Why EmergeOrtho Coastal Region?

Exceptional experience and expertise in a team of joint replacement specialists

Surgical experience is one of the biggest predictors of success in joint replacements. In addition to the highest levels of training, EmergeOrtho specialists have decades of experience performing large volumes of procedures, leading to excellent outcomes.

Southeastern North Carolina ranks tenth nationally in the volume of Medicare joint replacement surgeries, and EmergeOrtho physicians make up the vast majority of joint replacement specialists in the region. Our orthopedic surgeons are so highly regarded, in fact, many are nationally recognized lecturers who train other orthopedic surgeons in advanced surgical techniques.

At EmergeOrtho, we proudly offer two robotic-assisted knee replacement solutions, Mako SmartRobotics and ROSA, as part of our joint replacement program. This, combined with our rapid recovery and multi-modal pain management protocols, gives patients a team with the experience, training and technology to make your joint replacement successful.

Is joint replacement surgery available on an outpatient basis?

EmergeOrtho is committed to staying up to date on the newest techniques and innovations in joint replacement, which have led to a significant rise in minimally invasive joint replacement surgeries that can be performed on an outpatient basis. Factors that have contributed to this trend include muscle-sparing surgical techniques, advanced anesthesiology protocols, and in some cases, the use of robotic-assisted surgical instruments that are minimally invasive and may provide surgeons with enhanced accuracy.

Who May Need Joint Replacement Surgery?

While severe joint arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid) frequently leads to the need for a joint replacement, other causes may include extensive activity causing wear and tear, joint deformities, avascular necrosis, painful prosthesis, and failure of previous joint surgery. When pain and limited function are so severe that other treatments are not effective, joint replacement can be an excellent option.
